Fishing trip in Amazonia

RIO JURUBAXI

Dear fisherman, if you are dreaming of catching the trophy Peacock Bass of your lifetime, we invited you to follow us on one of our  Rio Jurubaxi fishing expedition in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon rain forest.

We have the exclusivity to operate our fishing tours on this 270 km long river which is a tributary of the Rio  Negro and is located in a big Amerindian reservation where no one else than you will be allowed to throw a lure!

Fisrt fishing test in 2018 have been just crazy with huge fish up to 25 lbs caught and a lot of 20+ Peacocks (serious pro guides working with us for long time swear to have potted 30lbs Peacocks !)

And you can expect to catch a lot more of fish between 10 and 20lbs on this river than on any regular Peacock Bass fishery. Along with the “Temensis” Peacock there are as well nice fighting Butterfly Peaocks some specimen can reach 10 lbs sometimes.

And as per Catfishes, there are spots where you can catch huge Piraras and monster Piraïbas as nobody has ever fished for them, you can expect to get a monster of 100 lbs in this river.

Accommodation will be in the luxury Barco Hotel “Kalua “as mothership (nice double cabins with air conditioned, private showers and wc, big upper living room/bar (open bar formula) , solarium …

The boat moves every day (sometimes at night) to new fishing areas while you are fishing or sleeping, which means that you will have access to new fishing grounds during all the week.

Food is great with a mix or Brazilian and international cuisine, and service is excellent with a friendly staff. During the week a « Luau « Brazilian meat BBQ diner will be organized one evening on a beach of the Rio.

You will fish 2 per boat, with one pro guide and sometimes one young Amerindian from the local tribe. Boats are 5,5 m long and have an electric engine and a 25 hp 2 stroke new Mercury engine.

Most of the fishing is done trying to catch the giant Peacocks on top water with propeller lures, stick baits, poppers, but with subsurface lures and wobblers are very effective as well, without forgetting to use the deadly buck tail jigs when top water fishing is slow.

Fly fishing is a challenge when Peacocks of over 10 lbs are targeted, but in the right hands I can be very effective!

A good angler can expect to catch an average of 10 to 20 Peacocks per day (in the 5 to 20+ lbs range)  in normal water conditions  but this river is not a place for large scores, here you come to find quality and to have great chances of catching the trophy you have always dreamed about.
